Byron Caige has been a prisoner for the last fifty years of his supernaturally long life. Just when he gives up hope of ever knowing the taste of freedom again, he is unwittingly rescued by the very same woman who only wants to see him dead. Katherine Dare – Kat – is smart, fast, strong and beautiful – but unfortunately she’s a Hunter, and she’s convinced that Byron murdered her father twenty years ago.
She’s also Byron’s dormant.
As supernatural war breaks out amongst the otherworldly of Earth and threatens the existence of entire races, Kat is faced with a terrible decision. Should she give up her cause and believe Caige when he professes his innocence? Or should she fight him and possibly avenge her father’s taken life – even while she forfeits her own?

The Hunt Big Bad Wolf Series The Big Bad Wolf Series Book 4 edition by Heather KilloughWalden Paranormal Romance eBooks
The Hunt is the fourth book in Heather Killough-Walden's Big Bad Wolf series. In these novels, we see a captivating world of werewolves and their mates called dormants (dormants because their wolf gene is "dormant" until they find their mate with which to bond). There is Hunters (humans sworn to kill werewolves), witches and Akyri (magical demon beings who couple with black magic warlocks to produce offspring - vampires). The Plot as written by Heather....Byron Caige has been a prisoner for the last fifty years of his supernaturally long life. Just when he gives up hope of ever knowing the taste of freedom again, he is unwittingly rescued by the very same woman who only wants to see him dead. Katherine Dare - Kat - is smart, fast, strong and beautiful - but unfortunately she's a Hunter, and she's convinced that Byron murdered her father twenty years ago. She's also Byron's dormant. This novel is filled with lots of well-written conflict, gripping action and suspense. Paired nicely with a blend of characters that are well defined and identifiable.
' Kat's inner conflict is credible in that you can rationalize how a person can be driven to avenge her father's death after witnessing what she did as a child.
' I particularly admired Kat for being a strong-willed woman that did what she thought was right without seeking approval from her mate. Byron seemed to appreciate that about her which is a refreshing change from other werewolf shorelines where that would be an impossibility.
' I would have expected Byron to be a bit more crazed given the fact that he had been a captive for 50 years by a spoiled and insane vampire princess.
' It was great to see characters of past novels brought back - the much loved seer Lily, healer Dannai and her mate Lucas, who happens to be Byron's brother. And of course Jason (the warlock who caused so much trouble in the last novel).
Kat and Byron's romantic connection is flawless. Easy yet powerful. Effortless yet intense. And most important for readers - entrancing.
There are plots among plots and loose ends that just cry out for another novel. I am more than eager to read more.

The Hunt Big Bad Wolf Series The Big Bad Wolf Series Book 4 edition by Heather KilloughWalden Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
This book seems to be the end of this particular line of the story but it has threads at the end that leads to another... This book had all the same elements of the previous books so you won't be disappointed but there were a few twists I didn't see coming and was pleasantly surprised. It's a keeper ad well!!!!!
the series matures beautifully and the writing grows in style. it is an excellent series and i cannot recommend it enough. after the hunt, i was looking for more to come and from the questions left unanswered, i have to assume another will be on its way. do not stop reading the series after the first or second book. by the third book, the spell, it is all good.
when i started reading the hunt, i realized it had been too much time and too many books since the the spell. thankfully, i have that book on my kindle and was able to take a couple hours perusing the story again. it made the hunt much more enjoyable.
This is a great book, I loved this series from he first, and they always get better. I've read the others somehow I missed this one along the way so I'm just now reading it, and it as awesome. You can't help but fall in love with Byron and Kat, their amazing. Lots of pain, heartache and forgiveness,, Kat has been through so much and Byron being provisioned for fifty years , your heart goes out to them, and your rooting for them the whole way. Their all one great big family so you get to keep up with the others along the way, which I love, it's so good to keep up with the characters throughout a series. Great Job!!
I have read all of the BBW series and have fallen in love with the world that Heather has created for her wolves and other super natural beings.
The strength of the characters, the pain, doubt and tribulations that they have to endure make the characters real and most of them carry on from book to book. Each one centers around a specific couple, but since the wolves make up one large family you get little tidbits from each of the previous couples which tie into the current story nicely.
Although each story has the same basic premise, (how will the alpha male claim his mate?) the journey that the individual couples go through to obtain that goal is what makes each story unique.
The Hunt is one of my favorites so far. I suppose it may have been because of all the extra internal battles that were going on between everyone involved. Byron and Kat had more obstacles than any other couple in the BBW series. They both had very tortured and tormented souls. Not that the other couples hadn't been through a lot, but the fact that Kat actually thought that her pain and suffering had been caused by Byron made you wonder from the beginning how they could ever get past it.
It was nice to see all the twists, turns and surprises that Heather had in store for all the previous characters in The Hunt. I also love the way she has of making you actually love a character that you never thought you would want to. There are a lot of Wow! moments in this one and yes, the steamy scenes are there as well, but they are added bits of spice, not the central theme of the story - they are worth waiting for though ) There are also heart wrenching moments along with comical ones that take you by surprise. This one was a hard one for me to put down. I kept thinking that I would read one more chapter and when I got through that one I couldn't stop.
These books aren't for everyone, but those of us who have grown to love these characters will not be disappointed in The Hunt and are already waiting for the next installment.
